Amy's Clinical Training and Experience

Hi there,

I'm a licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of New Jersey. My specialty is working in the field of suicide prevention, with adolescent clients. In the past, I have held the following related positions:

  • In-patient mental health clinician
  • Psychiatric screener for youth and adolescents
  • Intensive In-Home Community Provider for the NJ Children's System of Care (IIC for short)
  • Regional Response Clinician for the Middlesex County (NJ) Youth Detention Center and Shelter
  • Traumatic Loss Coalition Coordinator for Middlesex County (we provide assistance to communities in our counties after traumatic losses involving children and youth. These are often, though not always, suicide-related.)
  • Training Consultation Specialist for the NJ Juvenile Justice Commission.
  • Certified Trainer for several EBPs including (my favorite) Sources of Strength, CONNECT, and AMSR
  • Training and design consultant for Safeside Prevention

I had a private practice working with youth and families as an outpatient clinician as well as an IIC clinician. I put that all on hold when my kids were born and focused solely on training, which had much better hours! I no longer have a private clinical practice.

Today, I design and deliver training in the mental health field as well as train the trainer. I train mental health topics for Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care, Training and Technical Assistance for the New Jersey Children's System of Care, as well as Sources for Human Services in Pennsylvania. Some of my mental health titles include:

  • Suicide Prevention for Helping Professionals
  • De-escalating Conflict
  • Helping Youth with Traumatic Grief
  • Compassion Fatigue - Helping the Helping Professional
  • Healthy Boundaries and Professional Use of Self
  • Managing Complex Boundaries - Ethics for behavioral health professionals providing in-home services
