About this Blog
I've been working in the field of human development as a social worker and as a training specialist for over 20 years. I've encountered thousands of individuals, and I've lost count of how many organizations, schools, businesses, and government agencies I've had the benefit of working with in that time. I have some thoughts about how to best help people change. I'm sharing the best of them here.

Disclosure: I signed up to be an Amazon Affiliate, so please click all the links and buy all the recommended books and products so I can rake in millions. Just kidding! Sort of. I buy a ton of stuff for work on Amazon, so I set up affiliate links in order to earn a (very modest) commission on products I recommend. I will never promote a product I don't personally use!

The longer version
Amy began her career as a policy advisor for the Governor of New Jersey on youth and family issues and education. She then pivoted to work for the Consortium for Policy Research out of Rutgers and then University of Pennsylvania as a research associate, studying the professional development of K-12 educators.
She earned her MSW and began clinical work with children and families in 1998, specializing in suicide prevention, trauma, loss, and youth involved in juvenile justice. In 2001, she was hired to lead the Traumatic Loss Coalition in Middlesex County NJ, a team of crisis intervention specialists providing consultation, resources, and tactical support to schools and organizations after traumatic losses and events. This team provided technical support and resources to schools in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.
She was recruited to help the NJ Juvenile Justice Commission implement a statewide culture change initiative to comply with recommendations set out by the NJ Child Advocate. This involved the development and roll-out of new curriculum statewide as well as extensive follow-up and resulted in what is referred to "trauma-informed care" becoming the standard in NJ Juvenile Justice facilities. She worked with the NJ Juvenile Justice Commission for 13 years as an Instructional Designer and Trainer before transitioning to Rutgers Behavioral Health Care's Training and Technical Assistance unit in 2020, where she now works with the New Jersey Children's System of Care. This unit provides training and consultation services to all behavioral health care agencies and providers working in New Jersey's Children's System of Care.
Amy joined the team at the Bob Pike Group in 2019 as a training consultant and began sharing her passion for Instructor-Led, Participant-Centered training with organizations and companies outside of New Jersey. She teaches Instructional Design, Train the Trainer Bootcamp, Interactive Virtual Trainer, Swift Steps to Design Success, and Quickly Convert Classroom Training to Live Online for the Bob Pike Group and serves as a designer and design consultant for Bob Pike Group's design clients.
