Better Handouts!

Great handouts are the lifeblood of great training. Why print off a boring, nearly useless copy of your PowerPoint deck when you can use handouts in ways that encourage participation, discussion, and application? A great handout is the resource you want your participants turning to again and again after the training is over, right?

Being the nerd that I am, I created a handy job aid to help ensure variety in the kinds of handout pages I create for training. I then turned it into a Notion page that you can copy into your own Notion database, if you're so inclined (and use Notion to design training like I do). If not, you can always bookmark as a reference.

The Handout Facilitation Variety Checklist has 24 different types of handout pages you can use for training along with ideas for how to faciliate the learning and teaching of those pages. It also lists the formats you can use to create the resource (paper, PDF, webapp like Craft.do or Notion, or virtual whiteboard like Miro). Think beyond the bullet point!

Enjoy!
